See the World Differently by Asking Questions

I was thinking about writing an article about Positive Image and Self-Confidence for women. Then I asked myself, why do women not ask about what is happening to them and why do they not think about their rights as human beings. Then I realized, that at some point in our life, we stopped asking questions; these are perhaps the reasons…

  • Maybe somebody  told us that there is no place for questions
  • Maybe our brain is not that active or developed
  • Maybe we are scared of the light after sleeping for long in the darkness
  • Maybe it is very comfortable not to think or ask!

If you remember yourself as a child, there were thousands of questions in your mind; questions like:

  • Why is the moon following me?
  • Where did I come from?
  • How do the animals speak to each other?
  • Where is sun at night?

But then our parents got tired of answering our questions and we didn’t find the right answers anymore, maybe they never had the answers to start with. Then they told us to stop asking crazy questions and that we are not allowed to question certain things.

As a result they suppressed our curiosity and motivation for asking questions and knowing more. So we  just learn and tend to accept what they tell us with no questions.

So what happens when we stop asking questions? Well, then our brain starts to die!

Our brain is made of neurons and these neurons stop increasing in number within a few years after birth. Yet, the brain will make synapses and connections between the neurons and that is how we learn new things or gain memories.

Therefore, the more we use our brain, the more connections/synapses it makes. Hence if we stop thinking, learning or asking questions, the synapses not only won’t develop, but also will decrease as we age. In a way, the brain is like pure iron; if we do not play games, think, stimulate and learn, it will rust!

Now, imagine a rusty brain which has been latent for years. It will be akin eyes that have been used to darkness and if we open the windows, they will go blind due to the lights. So, it is much easier to go back to the comfort of the darkness and live in it with out any questions!

To open our eyes to light, we need to be ready  and willing to live  life with the enlightenment we gain. If you think you are ready for that, you might want to start asking questions.

Questions about yourself, issues such as sex, religion, humanity, emotions, death; or questions about the world  such as war, injustice, democracy, fashion, peace etc. are good to start with. By raising these questions, the brain will start to look for the answers and think more analytically instead of accepting passively whatever we have been fed by the parents, schools, media, society and so forth.

As you start to think differently, the world will become different from the one you knew before with your limited perspectives. It will be more exciting and interesting that you can imagine. It is your freedom to choose how to look at it and to decide if you want to see the world through clear eyes.
