When you come to see me or email me to share your issues, you may want to know how our counseling or therapy sessions will be like. You may want to know the time-line and costs involved as well. Here I would like to explain the approaches I take in my counseling and therapy sessions. Please note that this varies with each individual, situation or issue.
For example when a person comes with an apparent issue like anxiety, we will work on the issue and its impact on the daily life of the person. At the same time, we will work to discover the underlying and deeper reasons for the anxiety to solve the issue for the long-term.
To tackle some of the daily life issues like anxiety, stress, anger, depression etc… I apply cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation and mindfulness techniques. However, I apply psychotherapy to find out more about the deeper issues and causes which might not be visible on a conscious level.
Before each session I will explain for you our approach and objective for the session. We observe, analyze and discuss speech and behavioral patterns as well as interactions with ourselves and others. We also discuss your reactions, thoughts and feelings about your dreams and memories.
I normally do not give advice during the process of counseling and therapy. But sometimes, I may inter confront you or share my point of view and opinion.
As we progress with our sessions, you may witness the changes in your mental state and your life. You may feel relived or relaxed within the first or a few sessions by sharing and finding insights about yourself. But this does not necessarily mean that you have resolved all the issues. I would recommend following up your therapy and counseling until you feel confident and comfortable with your life. We can meet at less frequent intervals when you feel more relaxed and in control of your life. Finally when you are in a more balanced state of mind, you may decide to terminate the session.
If you want to make an appointment, please consider your situation and how you want to start. Face to face sessions are better if you are comfortable. However, if you are traveling, prefer not to be seen or want to save time, you can consider online counseling, phone counseling or counseling by email.
The charge for each face to face counseling session is S$170 while online and phone counseling sessions cost S$150 each. Charges for email counseling are S$ 120 per email. Email follow up for face to face and online counseling are free of charge. If you choose a package of 5 sessions you will receive 20% discount (1 free session after every 4 sessions). Payments can be made online via paypal, by credit card or cash.
